The more surface area of an object has the more water that pushes back against it helping it to float, therefore water pushes against objects.

Water does not float the objects in it float or sink. If the amount of bouyancy is more than the weight of the object then the object floats

water floats due to gravity and with the help of wind. Air takes up space in water and will float to the top.
