Global warming is the increase in average global temperature due to increase in amount of GHGs in earth’s atmosphere. Consequences of global warming :

1) Increase in the sea level : Global warming will melt polar ice caps. If all the ice on the earth will melt, about 200 feet of water would be added to surface of all oceans. Thus low lying coastal cities like shanghai, Kolkata, Bangkok, Dhaka, Venice, etc. will be inundated.
2) Increase in global temperature : If present input of GHGs will be continued, the earth’s global temperature will rise.
3)Effect on agriculture : Grain production will be reduced. India’s annual monsoon rains may even cease together. One third of global forest might be swept away. Deserts are likely to increase
4) Chances of hurricanes, cyclones and floods will be more.
5) Increased temperature and humidity caused by global warming will lead to spread of diseases like malaria, filariasis etc. due to spread of vectors. Incidences of respiratory and skin diseases are likely to increase.
